I Know Where I'm Going
I know Where I’m Going is a Tribute to the Isle of Mull, it consists of 36 10x10cm panels, that are equally spaced and mounted onto a square format panel. The piece tells the story of my last visit to Mull, from the journey there on the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to the transient camps and all the ‘visual’ notes between.

The piece picks up on the format of the ‘old holiday snap’ both in its size and its number of 36 the same as the size of an old format film. The piece borrows its title from the 1945 Micheal Powell and Emeric Pressburger Film ‘I Know Where I’m Going’ A love story that combines a journey from Manchester to being stranded on the Isle of Mull.  The constant reference to the sea in these panels, which is the majority of the panels reminds the audience of The Mulls (once) Isle status, as well as alluding to the entrapment seen in the Emeric, Pressburger film.

I must admit that if I were to be stranded on an Isle then Mull would certainly be my first choice.
