Whenever anyone has suggested that I make a painting into a postcard I have always given a long explanation with many reasons why this would never be so. I still feel much the same way, but "on me 'olidays" is a series of oil on panel postcard size paintings. They look at the invasion of the past and present tourists along the north Norfolk coast. They are informed with my long fascination with Donald McGill imagery. They are nostalgic, out of place, not quite right, fun, sad and ultimately a lament of the past days of the good ol' British holiday. I suppose it was inevitable that they would reach their natural conclusion as postcards, however, these are not mass produced, they will not adorn racks along the prom or be bought at the end of the seaside pier. They are limited to fifty sets in total, and each set given an edition number and signed, and then no more. So will it be a text or a postcard?
