The Third Sister

The Third Sister is a painting of part of Glencoe. Its composition  plays no’ tricks’ its elements, are mountain, water and rock, it has a matter of fact look about her. Softened and given the Glencoeness  by the accurate depiction of colour and interchange of light and dark tone.
I wanted ‘The Third Sister’ to look ‘tough’ and solid, a comment on Glencoe’s history , its scale of 40x40cm adds to its wireryness as does its depth  of 10cm off the wall. The edges are painted zinc white, with the idea being to give the viewer a true reading of colour as the eye glides over the edge onto the surface.
